Day 22: Keeping Your Heart Open

Today the enormity of personal loss really hit me. Although there were lots of good moments in the day like playing Jackbox games with family and friends, reading to start my day, and dancing for fun and exercise in my living room...a person that I know died of COVID yesterday. I did not know him well, but I knew his name from going to Type 1 diabetes camp together. I know he was afraid of heights and embraced challenges. I know he ran marathons and mentored kids...he was a kind, decent, healthy person. Today is a hard one guys.
I am trying to keep my heart open, and close myself off from as much negativity as possible. Even if it takes crying in the shower and really feeling those feelings, it is what makes it worth it to log on to the computer, see people you love, and hold gratitude in your heart that you can hear their voices. Humanity wins, friends, even when so many things do not.
Prepare, don't panic.
